Herdade do Monte da Ribeira is owned by Casa Agricola HMR S.A. entirely owned by the Victor and Graça Carmona e Costa foundation.
Situated in the municipality of Vidigueira, the estate has an area of 1100 hectares, of which 43 are vineyards and 210 olive groves. The white varieties - Alvarinho, Antão VAz, Arinto, Roupeiro and Verdelho - occupy one third of the total vineyard while the red varieties - Alicante Bouschet, Aragones, Baga, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Syrah, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Touriga Nacional and Trincadeira - occupy the remaining 2 thirds.
The first vineyard was planted in 1989 in parallel with the construction of a winery, and in 1992 the first wine was marketed under the Vidigueira brand. Currently the wines marketed by Herdade do Monte da Ribeira are "Quatro Caminhos", "Pousio Selection", "Pousio Reserva" and premium red "Marmelar", which, since the first harvest, have received several national and international awards and distinctions.
